Job Duties
Under the general supervision of the Clerk of Court, supervises, coordinates, reviews and evaluates the work of assigned divisions performing a variety of court support work; develops work methods and procedures; recommends procedural changes; and to do related work as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The most ideal applicant will lead, plan and coordinate the supervision of the clerk’s office employees. Possess strong decision-making capabilities and initiative. Monitors quality and quantity of work through direct observation. Communicate clearly and concisely in both written and oral forms. Serves on interview panels, makes hiring recommendation of the divisions. Establishes uniform procedures for processing and filing all records consistent with OES guidelines and statutory requirements. Assumes additional responsibilities other than those primarily assigned to the position as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
A high school degree or equivalent is required; college degree and court/legal environment experience is highly preferred. Direct supervisory experience is preferred. Satisfactory background check.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift/carry 10+ pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing, and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment, walking, sitting, standing, reach, twisting and kneeling to perform the essential functions.
Additional Considerations
Knowledge and hands-on experience in managing court staff is preferred. The ideal candidate will have proven ability and history of training staff in court procedures/processes, have advanced customer service experience in dealing with the general public, external agencies, attorney firms and other courts. The selected candidate for this position will be required to serve on a rotating basis as a courtroom clerk, therefore courtroom clerk experience is highly preferred. Also, the selected candidate for this position will be required to have the ability to work as a front counter clerk when the need arises, therefore it is preferred that the selected candidate have experience in assisting customers publicly along with assisting customers via the telephone. Candidates having proficiency in using computer systems, advance experience with Case Management (GCMS) and Financial Management (FAS), Microsoft applications, Outlook is preferred. Must have proven measurable hands-on experience managing personnel. Competitive applicants must demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
