Our Senior Receptionist position is an entry-level position with a leading state agency that provides opportunities for growth in the judicial and workers’ compensation fields while maintaining work, life balance.
This position is a great steppingstone to learn more about the judicial process with opportunities to be in the courtroom, perform legal writing, draft letters, and interact on a day-to-day basis with injured workers, employers and insurance carriers who are involved in the litigation and mediation of workers’ compensation disputes.
Job Duties
The Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission, an independent State agency, seeks a Senior Receptionist in our Virginia Beach Office. This position is responsible for greeting and answering inquiries from the public, attorneys and parties to a claim. The Senior Receptionist also assists with processing and maintaining files, identifying documents, and handling incoming and outgoing mail and copying requests. This position also serves as Evidentiary Hearing Clerk when needed and provides general administrative support to other office staff as needed and directed. Must past a criminal background check and references.
VWC Compensation Structure
Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission is an independent agency which allows us to have a more competitive and unique pay structure. This position is a pay grade 4 based on a 14 grade pay structure. Our positions are not classified under DHRM's pay bands.

This position is currently not telework eligible.

Minimum Qualifications
Administrative support experience or secretarial experience in a related field required.
Experience providing excellent customer service, both orally and in writing, to a diverse group of professionals and clients.
Working knowledge of general office practices and procedures; general office equipment; and the ability to use a Dictaphone.
Ability to work both independently and with others to achieve department goals in a fast-paced, office environment.
Must have excellent keyboarding skills.
Strong organizational and oral and written communication skills.
Strong data entry, proofreading, and problem-solving skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Word; database entry and retrieval skills; and the principles of legal research.
Additional Considerations
Legal assistant or administrative support experience in the area of workers' compensation preferred.
Working knowledge of the Virginia Workers' Compensation Act preferred.
Experience with the use of online video meeting software, such as, WebEx preferred.
