Job Duties
The Henrico Regional Office of the Department of Labor and Industry is currently seeking a well-qualified applicant with exceptional customer service and communication skills. This position is located in Henrico County and serves as the first point of contact for our internal and external customers. Not inclusive of this list, this individual will be responsible for assisting multi-lingual callers/visitors over the phone and in person, all aspects of administering and scheduling maintenance of pool vehicles, preparing, sorting and distributing agency mail, ensuring confidential record keeping/records destruction, and data entry as well as providing administrative support to employees and agency programs. This position will also serve as back up to the Henrico Office Services Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
• Experience working in a front-line administrative assistant role in an office setting; involving customer service to the general public while performing various receptionist, administrative and program support tasks.
• Experience and/or training in computer applications such as databases and Microsoft Office programs.
• Excellent customer service skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain good rapport with a wide variety of individuals at all levels in the organization.
• Well organized and the ability to take the initiative to work independently and as a team member with minimal supervision.
• A high school diploma or the equivalent training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• The ability to speak and interpret Spanish fluently.
Additional Qualifications
• Must be eligible to possess a valid driver’s license or have other means of reliable transportation
• Must be able to work public service hours M-F, 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
• The selected candidate must:
• Successfully complete a criminal background investigation.
• Successfully serve a 12-month probationary period effective from the date of employment if beginning employment as an original hire or re-employment.

The starting salary will be $49,289 annually plus the State’s benefits package. Please note that salary is only negotiable within the advertised salary posted. Interview candidates may be required to demonstrate the skills and abilities necessary for satisfactory performance of work.
