Eastern State Hospital (ESH), located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.
ESH invites applications for the position of PHARMACIST.
This position provides pharmaceutical services to mentally ill patients, ages 18 and older, in a timely and professional manner in support of ESH’s Vision, Mission, and Values. Services include dispensing, distribution, drug monitoring, medication regimen review per patient, Hospital Formulary management, and providing drug information to clinical staff and patients.
The qualified candidate will have considerable knowledge of the principals and practices of pharmacy services with ability to prioritize and work in a systems approach; a familiarity with mental illness and drug therapy; be knowledgeable regarding Medicare Part D and Medicaid third party drug plans; ability to perform medication regimen reviews and notify prescriber of any findings and/or recommendations regarding drug therapy; capability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and provide consultation to the medical staff; and the ability to prioritize and work with a system approach, working both independently and as part of a team.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a B.S. or PharmD is required.
Current Virginia Pharmacist license.
Hospital or institutional experience combined with some retail experience provide for an individual with a well-rounded background.
Experience in third party claim processing, efficient typing/computer skills and organizational ability.
