Job Duties
DMV is searching for a District Manager in our Roanoke District Office. The incumbent will be responsible for directing and overseeing the implementation, administration, and evaluation of programs and services provided in the assigned district, administered through a network of customer service centers.
Duties include:
- Overseeing all district programs and operations to include fiscal, operational, and programmatic functions.
- Ensuring that services are provided in an efficient, courteous and professional manner.
- Ensuring ethical application of programs and services are provided to the public in accordance with state and federal laws and agency accountability procedures.
- Serving as a liaison and point of contact to ensure smooth transactions and minimal public impact due to changes related to reorganization, re-engineering, new laws and policies, technology, construction, etc.
- Directing all DMV programs and services in the assigned district that are provided by the customer service centers.
- Ensuring an appropriate balance between security and customer service.
- Directing human resources management functions and tracks district spending.
This position is only open to current DMV employees.
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, serves approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers and ID card holders with over 8.4 million registered vehicles. Minimum Qualifications
• Possesses a strong customer service focus.
• Considerable knowledge of administrative principles and practices related to budgetary and inventory control, facilities management, contractual agreements and human resources management.
• Considerable working knowledge of managerial and supervisory principles and practices and personnel management principles and procedures.
• Working knowledge of data analysis and evaluation techniques.
• Working knowledge of computer information systems, databases and personal computers and how they support service operations.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, explain and apply complex statutes such as the Motor Vehicle Code, and other laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data to determine the impact on operating procedures, personnel and costs, draw logical conclusions, make recommendations and implement strategies to resolve problems and issues and make improvements.
• Demonstrated ability to advise and direct managerial staff and to effectively supervise, train and counsel operational staff.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize a personal computer and word processing and spreadsheet software to create business correspondence and management reports.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate in a courteous, professional and tactful manner, both orally and in writing, with all levels of organizational personnel and a diverse customer population.
• Must be able to work Monday-Saturday with varied hours.
Additional Considerations
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Required to be at least 21 years of age in order to apply for a position that requires performing driver’s license testing.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license with a point balance of less than 6 demerit points and no major convictions.
• Must consent to a criminal background check.
