Job Duties

Patient Assessment and Care:

Patient Assessment and Care:

- Perform comprehensive assessment of in-house patients
- Must be available Monday through Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM, and remain on call during Saturdays, Sundays, and scheduled holidays to respond to calls from nursing staff and other healthcare providers.
- Conduct physical examinations
- Evaluate laboratory results, X-rays, and EKGs/EEGs
- Make necessary changes to medical orders
- Document progress notes in Electronic Health Records (EHR)
- Prepare patient care summaries
- Manage chronic conditions within family context
- Provide preventive care services
- Provide verbal orders to nursing staff as needed.
- Address family health concerns
- Coordinate care with other specialists
- Diagnose and treat complex medical conditions
- Manage multiple comorbidities
- Review and adjust medication regimens
- Required to assess patients receiving general medical (GM) care in person and write progress notes for all GM patients.
Admission, Discharges, and Rounds:
- Evaluate patients for potential admission and discharge requirements
- Write and review general medical orders
- Conduct rounds across all levels of care during MOD rotation
- Assess and document discharge readiness for patients
- Assess physical function and mobility
- Prescribe appropriate rehabilitation programs
- Monitor progress in physical therapy
- Coordinate with rehabilitation specialists
- Review and approve transfer requests between units
- Conduct bedside procedures when necessary

Minimum Qualifications

Comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic clinical skills; knowledge of family practice or internal medicine; knowledge of special populations including geriatric. Ability to set priorities and to effectively communicate orally and in writing with all levels of staff and the public.

Additional Considerations

~ Considerable experience in clinical and treatment coupled with familiarity in administering and supervising medical affairs desirable
