Job Duties
We are seeking a highly motivated, Registered Nurse to join our team at NVMHI as a Nursing and Training Instructor. The Nursing and Training Instructor position, is a dynamic, proactive, collaborative position within the Staff Development and Training Department with a dotted line to the Nursing Department. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering engaging and effective new employee orientation and annual training programs for our Nursing Department staff. You will also play a crucial role in ensuring our overall workforce is equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in their roles through the facilitation of CPR, Code Blue, Seclusion and Restraint and Therapeutic Options training. Experience with adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies. Must be highly organized, detail oriented and be able to meet deadlines with multiple competing priorities. Must have excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
Core Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development & Delivery:
Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs for nursing staff, including new hire orientation, in-service training, and continuing education.
Clinical Instruction:
Provide hands-on instruction and mentorship in the clinical setting, supporting staff in the delivery of safe and effective patient care. Support student learning through the facilitation of clinical rotations of nursing students utilizing the established agreements with Nursing Programs.
Competency Assessment:
Conduct competency assessments and provide feedback to ensure staff meet required standards.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of staff progress, performance, and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
Current, unrestricted RN licensure in the state of Virginia. Prior experience in a psychiatric setting. Experience with the Suite of Microsoft Products. Demonstrated Experience teaching, training, or precepting adult learners.
Additional Considerations
Registered Nurse (RN) with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher preferred. Demonstrated clinical experience in a relevant healthcare setting preferred. Prior experience providing live, virtual and blended learning training/classes. Prior experience with accreditation bodies, CMS, OSIG and other similar oversight bodies.
