Job Duties
The Defined Contribution Plans Administration Team is currently working on a research project with a focus on data collection. The DC Plans Intern will research current retirement plan contribution rates and collect contact data for a variety of higher education institutions around the United States. The incumbent will also document their procedures for future use within VRS. Responsibilities will include researching the needed information and entering it in a database for analysis. The incumbent shall also be an active participant in the analysis portion of the project.
• Document project requirements by meeting with stakeholders to identify business needs for data collection.
• Develop a project plan to complete research within a finite period of time; emphasis should be placed on developing a methodology for maintaining the data in the future.
• Document and/or updating processes and procedures.
• Coordinate stakeholder meetings/outreach as needed.
• Effectively work with multiple internal departments and all levels of staff to move assigned projects forward.
• Develop a communications plan to inform staff on project status.
• Perform filing and general administrative tasks.
• Maintain confidentiality of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and other sensitive data.
• Perform other projects, or duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Working towards an undergraduate degree, or certificate in business, data science, or closely related field (from an accredited college or university). Proficiency in MS Office suite, including Excel, and using general computer software. Demonstrated experience in working with SharePoint, or similar software.
The successful candidate must also have the following key competencies: project management skills, ability to prioritize tasks and work independently, ability to meet deadlines on multiple projects, attention to detail and accuracy, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to maintain confidentiality; and a professional, positive demeanor.
Additional Considerations
• Previous experience working with research or data collection, preferred
• Understanding of how to enter information into a database and export into an analytical platform e.g., Excel, Power BI), preferred
• Knowledge of organizing research and resulting data (in SharePoint specifically), preferred

Currently, this position has a hybrid work schedule - requiring work in the office two days per week, and work remotely three days per week. The selected candidate must be able to work in the office any day of the week as required by the manager, and per the agreed upon internship schedule.
