Job Duties

Piedmont is a Geriatric Hospital located in the state of Virginia. It is Virginia’s only state Mental Health Facility solely dedicated to evaluation and treatment of persons over the age of 65, and older adults. The goal of care is to facilitate discharge to a less restrictive setting by assisting patients to improve and/or maintain their physical, mental and social functioning.

This position will perform a variety of routine, unskilled and semiskilled tasks as part of the grounds crew, to assist the various skilled trade’s workers, to assist with maintenance and repair of patient unit equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

-Some knowledge of the methods and practices and tools utilized in landscaping and in the skilled trades.
-Demonstrated ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and to perform manual labor.
-Knowledge of standard safety practices when using tools and equipment.

-Knowledge of horticultural practices when using tools and equipment.
-Ability to operate motor vehicles and other equipment properly and safely.

Additional Considerations

-Vocational training and/or some experience related to assisting in skilled trades or landscaping is preferred.
-Knowledge of standard safety practices as related to grounds maintenance is preferred.
-Experience to operate motor vehicles and grounds and/or farm equipment is preferred.
