Job Duties

The College of Agriculture – Cooperative Extension & Agricultural Research provides programs and serivices to improve the educational and socio-economic well-being of students, families, and communities—focusing on excellence through integrated instruction, research and extension programs.

The candidate will report to the Grants Manager for routine day-to-day operations related to financial and fiscal matters. Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the financial programs/processes and assuring conformity/compliance with federal/state grant financial requirements. To be a resource for grant administration activities and assist the Financial Services Unit as a whole.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will have knowledge of acceptable governmental procurement methods, terminology and principles. Strong technical knowledge in budgeting. Demonstrated computer skills in the University financial system and Microsoft software. Must have ability and organizational skills to handle medium to high volume of complex work and multiple assignments independently. Ability to make effective decisions to resolve complicated issues. Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills required. The position also requires:

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.

• Knowledge of the use of data processing techniques in maintaining accounting records.

• Ability to prepare financial reports.

• Working knowledge of eVA, Banner (Financial System), and other federal and state grant reporting systems.

• Ability to effectively communicate both written and orally.

• Ability to train and direct the work of supporting staff.

• Ability to maintain accurate financial records and retrieve them when requested.

Additional Considerations

• Experience in a governmental or financial accounting environment servicing a variety of fiscal needs is preferred.

• Knowledge of MS Office experience is preferred.

• Public procurement and budgeting experience preferably in higher education or government.

• Preferred experience working in Cooperative Extension environment.
