Location: Martinsville, VA
The Virginia Museum of Natural History is seeking a Museum Technician to join our Buildings & Grounds team.
This is a part-time position with up to 29 hours available each week. Workdays are Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from Noon to 5 p.m. (Sunday workdays are from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend only). There will be opportunities to work weekdays to receive full 29 hour work weeks, if desired. The Museum Technician must be available to work museum events, which will include evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
DUTIES:
1. Perform building sanitation and custodial work.
2. Assist in other areas, as needed, including, but not limited to, assistance with installing and deinstalling exhibits, assistance with lawn care, and assistance with overall cleanliness of areas throughout the museum.
3. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
4. Ability to work with little or no supervision and within in a team atmosphere.
5. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience with the above duties is a plus, but not required.
2. Must have basic computer skills (i.e. send/receive email, input time worked, etc.)
3. Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
4. Must be able to pass a background check.
