Job Duties
Helps in the development and implementation of policies and practices for financial management, payroll, budget control, accounting. By getting hands-on experience by working under the Budget and Payroll Manager he/she can understand and follow financial trends. Provides an opportunity of practical application of financial laws, government policies, payroll and budgeting at a state agency.
Principal Job Functions:
• Assist with record retention within the office.
• Assistance with preparation of monthly financial and payroll reports.
• Develop and utilize spreadsheets, databases, and other computer applications.
• To collect, understand, process, verify and report accounting related information.
• Attend all required training.
• Adhere to Customer First! And Safety and Security practices.
Minimum Qualifications
• Expertise in numbers and good math skills.
• Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of accounting and financial analysis.
• Must be able to collect, evaluate and interpret data, in both statistical and narrative form.
• Interest in budgeting, payroll and financial processes
• Capable of preparing files, maintaining records and documentation.
• Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment, make sound decisions
and take initiative.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Problem solving, entering and verifying data.
• Excel, Word and Outlook experience is required
• Previous coursework in finance, accounting or related field
• Must be able to work at three separate sites as needed: Jamestown Settlement, American
Revolution Museum at Yorktown and the Philip G. Emerson Central Support Complex
(near Water Country USA).
Additional Considerations
Must be currently enrolled in or have recently completed at least 1 year in a higher education or a skilled trade or a tech program.
