The Virginia Department of Health Profession's (DHP) mission is to ensure safe and competent patient care by licensing health professionals, enforcing standards of practice, and providing information to health care practitioners and the public.

This position is responsible for 1) all aspects of the licensing of Licensed Certified Midwives (LCMs) including application review for initial and endorsement applicants, as well as renewals and reinstatement applicants; 2) coordinating the Committee of the Joint Boards of Nursing and Medicine (CJB) meetings and proceedings; and 3) providing administrative support functions related to the disciplinary caseload of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) and LCMs regulated by the CJB and other professions regulated by the Board of Nursing.

Minimum Qualifications

--General knowledge of licensing principles and practices within a regulatory office environment.
--Demonstrated ability to independently organize workflow, prioritize and track deadlines, and prepare and disseminate correspondence in a timely fashion in a fast-paced environment.
--Considerable knowledge of administrative procedures and practices, including preparing public business meetings, taking/preparing meeting minutes, preparing official and or legal documents, and maintaining
confidential records.
--Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
--Strong ability to effectively and tactfully communicate orally and in writing with stakeholders and Board members.
--Word-processing proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, database management, and email.
--Experience working in a regulatory environment
--Data entry experience

Additional Considerations

--Knowledge of licensure database applications strongly preferred
- Progressively responsible experience working in an administrative or paraprofessional capacity in a
regulatory, legal, or similar environment
--Familiarity with digital case file management system
