Job Duties

The Jamestown–Yorktown Foundation is seeking a qualified individual to fill our Procurement Officer role!

This position is responsible for coordinating the procurement process, contract administration, preparation of reports, procurement training, and the maintenance of policies and procedures under the supervision of the Director of Finance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have an enthusiastic “can-do” attitude and be flexible to handle whatever the day may bring.
  • Excellent communication, customer service and writing skills.
  • Ability to stay organized and complete complex and challenging tasks even as the goals and priorities shift.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret specifications, analyze data and conduct negotiations to ensure effective contracting preferred.
  • Experience in or knowledge of purchasing, requisitions, and small purchase charge card programs and policies.
  • Working knowledge or experience in contracting for professional and non-professional services.
  • Ability to work independently with managerial oversite.
  • Experience working with an electronic procurement system.
  • Working knowledge or experience in developing Request for Proposals (RFPs), Invitation for Bids (IFB’s), Quick Quotes (QQ) and contractual documents preferred.
  • Demonstrated organizational abilities, good record keeping and automated system skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff, management and external vendors.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Additional Considerations

  • Knowledge acquired through coursework in business, public administration, or related field is beneficial to this role.
  • Virginia Contracting Officer (VCO) is preferred.
