**Sign on Bonus of $3,000 and 40 hours of vacation leave. First half of bonus to be received at hire and Second half of bonus to be received after one year of employment. Must have a successful probationary period and all necessary credentials to qualify for second half of bonus.

About the Work

The Plumber and Steamfitter is responsible for developing, maintaining and securing the Museum’s buildings and grounds so as to support its collections, education, and research functions.

The Plumber and Steamfitter will:

Support administrative operations by performing maintenance and preventive maintenance on Plumbing and HVAC systems and related equipment, and in other areas as assigned/needed, ensuring minimum disruption of normal operations and contributing to a clean and safe work environment.
Maintain continuous, 24-hour operation of the buildings located on the Museum's campus by providing troubleshooting and maintenance skills for a wide variety of plumbing systems and equipment with “On Call” responsibilities for first response to problems or emergencies that occur after normal business hours that could disrupt or endanger the Museum’s operation, patrons, staff, or the art collections.
When necessary, acts as Museum’s on-site coordinator with contractors to correct problems and make emergency repairs after normal working hours.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Considerable knowledge of corrective maintenance, installation, repair, and preventive maintenance related to plumbing/steam-fitting and related equipment and systems.
  • Must have a strong mechanical background.
  • Demonstrated skilled in use of power and hand tools necessary to perform tasks and repairs as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Some computer experience.
  • Plumber/Steamfitter Journeyman's license or the union equivalent of the DPOR journeyman’s card.

Additional Considerations

  • Prefer completion from either a vocational/technical school, or completion of an apprenticeship with supervised OJT.
  • Prefer demonstrated knowledge of computer programs as related to maintenance operation (e.g. Preventative Maintenance Programs).
