Southeastern Virginia Training Center is hiring a part-time, weekend Receptionist to join our Security team at our 24-hour facility. The Receptionist is responsible for answering a multi-line phone system and demonstrating a high level of customer service. This position maintains security by following procedures, monitoring logbook, issuing visitor badges and enforcing access control to the building.

 About the Role

  • Serves as the first point of contact for staff, individuals and visitors to the Facility.
  • Responsible for answering a multi-line phone system and demonstrating a high level of customer service including answering general questions.
  • The position maintains security by following procedures, monitoring logbook, issuing visitor badges and enforcing access control to the building.
  • This position monitors visitor activity monitors video surveillance monitors, and contacts police and/or fire departments in the case of an emergency as well as acts in the capacity of first responder for emergency situations.
  • The position works weekends and some holidays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • This position is hourly/wage and not eligible for benefits. Hourly (wage) employees may not work more than 29 hours a week and are limited to working 1500 hours in a year.

 Skills and experience required:

We seek a candidate with experience handling emergency situations in a calm and professional manner. We also seek the following:

  • Experience with general office procedures and equipment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and databases.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Active, valid driver’s license.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with a multi-line phone system.
  • Recent experience providing reception/security, and administrative support in an intermediate care facility.
  • General knowledge of Security procedures.
