Job Duties

DMV is recruiting for a Customer Service Center Assistant Manager position for the Tysons Cr. Customer Service Center. Assists the manager and supervises staff in direct service delivery in a DMV Customer Service Center including driver, dealer, motor carrier, vehicle registration and titling, tax collection and other DMV services. Assists the manager by coordinating and supervising DMV programs and services in the assigned customer service center including human resource functions, facilities, service and financial operations, and the safety and security of DMV employees, assets and information. Assumes the duties and responsibilities of the CSC Manager in his/her absence. All programs and services are administered in a customer service-focused manner and in accordance with statutory and administrative procedural requirements such as the Motor Vehicle Code of Virginia, DMV policies, procedures, rules and regulations, the Privacy Protection Act and the Freedom of Information Act.

The salary range reflects a 12% Northern Virginia locality adjustment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of DMV policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, including performance evaluation, conflict resolution, and staff development.
• Ability to analyze workflows, identify inefficiencies, and implement operational improvements.
• Proficiency in customer service principles, ensuring professionalism and accuracy in interactions.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with staff, customers, and stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address complex issues and ensure compliance.

Additional Considerations

• Advanced knowledge of project management principles and techniques.
• Familiarity with legislative and regulatory changes impacting DMV operations.
• Experience in developing training programs and fostering professional growth.

Job-Specific Conditions:
o Security Clearances: A criminal background check is required to ensure the integrity and security of DMV operations. The Assistant Manager must handle sensitive information with confidentiality and adhere to DMV security policies.

• Licensing and Certifications: The Assistant Manager must be 21 years of age to administer road examinations.
