The Department of Psychology at Norfolk State University invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 2025. We welcome candidates from all areas of specialization within Psychology to apply; however, preference will be given to applicants who hold a doctorate in Clinical or Social Psychology. The successful candidate will teach courses primarily at the undergraduate level, engage in scholarly research, student mentorship, and serve on various departmental committees. The candidate is expected to have excellent communication skills, personal integrity, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity.

Minimum Qualifications

An earned doctorate (PSY.D or Ph.D.) in Clinical, Social, Cognitive, Human Factors Psychology or a related discipline.

Evidence of potential for strong teaching.

Evidence of potential for excellence in research.

Additional Considerations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A commitment to the development of a research lab that is aligned with candidate interests and expertise.

Experience with online teaching using the Blackboard learning management system.

A record of or potential for obtaining external grant support.
