Join the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation as an Exhibits Fabricator and bring history to life through hands-on craftsmanship. This part-time opportunity (30 hours/week for 30 weeks at $30/hour) is perfect for artisans, builders, or exhibit professionals seeking a meaningful project in a nationally recognized museum environment. You'll work alongside experienced exhibition staff to design, fabricate, and maintain high-quality display elements; from props and cases to signage and wall features; using wood, metal, plexiglass, and more. While this role is wage-funded and does not include state benefits, it offers a rare chance to contribute directly to immersive educational spaces, build your portfolio, and gain experience in museum exhibit production. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, collaborative, and ready to transform design plans into tangible experiences for thousands of visitors.

Job Duties

The Exhibits Fabricator is responsible for the fabrication and installation of various exhibit components, including cases, bases, props, signage, and wall elements, using materials such as wood, metal, plexiglass, and laminate, while ensuring museum-quality finishes. Additionally, this role involves gallery maintenance by identifying and prioritizing necessary repairs to preserve the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of exhibits. The fabricator also maintains clean and organized workspaces, including the wood/paint shop and storage areas. All work must adhere to state, foundation, and AAM guidelines, with prompt reporting of any safety concerns.

This is a temporary part-time wage position funded for approximately 30 weeks from date of hire.
