Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of
Virginians. The VDH is made up of a statewide Central Office in Richmond and 33 local health districts.

The Work at VDH Office of Vital Records impacts the lives of thousands of Virginians every day. As a Vital Records Senior Program Support Generalist, you will monitor and train staff who process a variety of routine and complex document control processes.

This position oversees the entire document control team for the office of vital records, and maintains office files, perform quality assurance, complete daily reports, scan documents, and ensure staff meet daily document control production goals while adhering to VDH policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to complete and train others on document control tasks with a high rate of accuracy
• Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers over the phone, in writing, and in person.
• Strong organizational skills and experience with software applications and Microsoft Office products (i.e., WORD, EXCEL, and database entry) and general office equipment (copier, fax, calculator).
• Experience maintaining confidential files and records.
• Ability to follow and apply established procedures and applicable policies.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
• Experience performing research to solve problems, using analytical and critical thinking skills.

• Knowledge of handling customer payments
• Experience working in a mailroom setting and monitoring staff performance
• Experience processing a high volume of work
• Experience working independently with minimal supervision to meet deadlines
• Experienced in developing and maintaining operations reports
• Experience training staff
• Bilingual and able to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently
