About the Position:
The Virginia State Police is seeking to hire a Secretary Senior at the Division IV, Area 30 Office in Wise, Virginia. The candidate selected for this position will oversee and coordinate office operations to ensure efficient daily functions and workflow. Acting as both office manager and administrative assistant to the Area First Sergeant, it provides comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the Area First Sergeant, Sergeants, Troopers, and Volunteers. Independently schedules sworn employees for Safety in Work Zone projects, Portable Scales, and training assignments. Oversees part time employees, volunteers, housekeepers, and grounds workers by coordinating their schedules and directing tasks. Serving as an alternate evidence custodian, the position may testify in court when necessary and handle legal document assignments. Responsibilities also include independently preparing reports and correspondence, as well as maintaining office files in accordance with Department policies and accreditation guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications
•Demonstrated knowledge of office and administrative operations and principles.
•Skill in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other relevant software applications; attention to detail pertaining to grammar, punctuation, and spelling; typing; data entry; records management; and report generation.
•Ability to interpret, apply, retain, and recall of policies, procedures, and regulations; to establish priorities and make independent decisions; to gather, organize, and compile information efficiently; to communicate orally and in writing, in English; to operate and maintain automated office equipment, including computers; and to interact with the co-workers, general public, and others contacted internally and externally in the course of work.
•High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
•Secretarial experience.
•Experience in office operations and customer service.
•Must be qualified to serve as a Notary Public.
•Must be eligible to become Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certified, which requires either United States citizenship or a lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization.
