Job Duties
The Office of the Controller is seeking applications for the position of Grants and Contracts Financial Analyst. This position supports the Manager of Grants and Contracts in pre and post award grant coordination. This position will administer post award activities and carry out financial analyses and compliance oversight in support of university sponsored research.
Responsible for the compilation, analysis and maintenance of programmatic and financial data for VSU Grants and Contracts. Specifically, financial tracking including fund allocations, accounts receivables and grant invoicing. This position will provide technical assistance to management with review and establishment of new awards. Ensures compliance with federal and sponsor regulations and terms of award; Oversees compliance with all University, State and federal policies and guidelines for sponsored projects. Integrates analytical and creative thinking to continuously improve processes. Other responsibilities will include creating ad hoc reports, researching and solving problems and other types of financial analysis and report generation. Assist with identifying discrepancies and activities not in accordance with the approved award or out of compliance with university and/or State policies, and regulations or laws. Maintains familiarity with university, state and/or federal policies and procedures. Establishes and maintains grant files and updates appropriate University data bases.
Minimum Qualifications
Considerable knowledge and understanding of the Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirement for Federal Awards (2CFR200), and must have ability to interpret and apply regulations to grant and contracts compliance and operations.
Must have considerable knowledge of Genral Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA).
Must have working knowledge of GAAP related to application in a college or university accounting and reporting environment.
Must have demonstrated ability to use automated accounting systems.
Must be proficient using MS Office Suite, i.e., MS Word, Excel, and Access.
Must have demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Must have ability to multi-task many projects and activities simultaneously.
Additional Considerations
Experience working in a higher education environment is a plus.
Graduation from a college or university with major studies in accounting is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
