Job Duties:

Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center is accepting applications/resumes for a recreation therapist who will serve as a specialized clinician with experience and knowledge in client evaluation and treatment techniques; instruct and mentor new staff therapists, other team members, and student interns; and be active in program and departmental leadership. The incumbent will play a crucial role in the rehabilitation team that focuses on vocational and life skills. To meet the expectations of the job, the incumbent must have access to personally identifiable and confidential information about agency consumers and agency staff.

In addition, the incumbent will perform the following duties, which include but are not limited to:

·       Evaluate the client, which may include activities of interest, such as past experiences, community reentry skills, social skills, functional abilities, and psychosocial integration skills.

·       Continually review and document progress and participation for the treatment plan, establishing and monitoring goals and priorities with client and team input. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring coverage when necessary.

·       Provide routine clinical guidance/supervision for the clinical development of interns, volunteers, and ancillary personnel providing support to client programs.

·       Participate with the therapeutic team in integrated case conferences to establish, revise, and monitor progress toward client goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge:
• Clinical knowledge gained during the professional curriculum.
• Working knowledge of principles and practice of RT techniques.

Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to administer Recreational therapy treatments, including assistive technology, Leisure education, equipment, and/or rule adaptations for successful participation in recreation.
• Ability to work as a team member in an interdisciplinary rehabilitation setting.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective teaching skills and knowledge of Anger Management, Socialization through Recreation, Leisure education, Skill Development, Volunteerism, performing arts, and aquatic activities.

Additional Considerations:

• Training in Therapeutic Recreation.
• Certification by NCTRC or eligible for National certification.
• Previous work or affiliation in a rehabilitation environment.
• Clinical or general experience as a CTRS.
• Lifeguarding and boating certification.
• Fitness
