Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management is currently seeking a qualified candidate to become our Fleet Coordinator! The Fleet Coordinator participates as a member of an emergency management team to manage the resources of the Agency. Efficiently oversees day-to-day projects regarding asset and resource planning, asset and resource management, facility management, motor vehicle fleet management and recordkeeping, allocation of motor vehicles and other agency resources, which includes the upkeep and maintenance of those resources. Assists as a team member to provide support in directing multi-agency and multi-discipline response to emergency events and disasters. Develops and maintains operational programs and procedures necessary to ensure adequate responses in emergency management consistent with VDEM’s mission and the state emergency management system. Functions as a specialist in logistics for applicable programs and initiatives. Supports state and local government interaction with respect to emergency management and logistics-based initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

- Considerable knowledge of asset and resource planning, asset and resource management, facility management, motor vehicle fleet management and recordkeeping, allocation of motor vehicles and other agency resources, which includes the upkeep and maintenance of those resources.
- Knowledge of logistics related programs and state procurement guidelines and policies.
- Knowledge of the project management process and the development of policies and procedures.
- Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills effective across multiple sectors and disciplines.
- Considerable skill in the use of computers, Microsoft Office and various software.
- Creative planning ability; ability to think through emerging crises quickly; to utilize good judgment regarding the commitment of resources.
- Ability to deliver excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced professional environment.
- Ability to work independently and to participate as part of a professional team.
- Ability to conduct research, to analyze data, with skill to write policy documents and prepare reports.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and develop equipment specifications.

Additional Considerations

- An equivalent combination of training and experience in emergency management to perform the duties of the position is preferred.

The salary for this position is negotiable up to the maximum hiring range listed in this posting. Offers will not be made outside of the hiring range. This is a restricted position due to the funding source.
