Position Summary

The Associate Director of Auxiliary Services provides strategic leadership and fiscal oversight to enhance the efficiency and performance of designated auxiliary service units. This position plays a key role in supporting the financial, operational, and administrative functions of Printing Services, SpartanCard Office, and the Ticket Center. The Associate Director also assists in department planning efforts and leads special initiatives as delegated by the Director, serving as acting Director in their absence. 

Job Duties

  • Develop and manage an efficient administrative structure to increase organizational effectiveness and improve overall service delivery.
  • Provide ongoing financial oversight, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense monitoring for all assigned units.
  • Supervise personnel operations, including staffing, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Support strategic planning and lead special projects across the division to align with university goals.
  • Ensure compliance with all university policies, contractual obligations, and applicable regulations.
  • Implement and evaluate operational policies and procedures, recommending improvements as needed.
  • Build and maintain strong business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports and maintain accurate records to support transparency and decision-making.
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of management principles and budget development.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, contract administration, and financial analysis.
  • Familiarity with the mission, values, and goals of Norfolk State University (NSU) or a comparable HBCU.
  • Experience in monitoring business operations, resolving issues, and leading organizational improvements.
  • Proven ability to build and enhance professional relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy in maintaining financial and personnel records.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting with frequent interruptions.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Competency in interpreting and implementing policies and contractual requirements.

Additional Considerations

  • Prior experience working in higher education, particularly within auxiliary enterprises and services.
  • Proven success in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects.
  • Experience in using data and metrics to evaluate program outcomes and guide decision-making.
  • Knowledge of technology systems related to auxiliary operations (e.g., campus card systems, ticketing platforms).
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, drive innovation, and foster continuous improvement.
