Job Duties

Virginia Military Institute, an NCAA Division I and Southern Conference member, is seeking candidates for an Assistant Track and Field Coach - Distance/Cross Country. The selected candidate will report to the Director of Track and Field/Cross Country.

The successful candidate will:
Assist in organizing and directing all phases of the Cross Country and Track and Field Program.
Recruit and evaluate potential student-athletes.
Coordinate team travel arrangements.
Design and implement training programs focused on athlete development, injury prevention, and performance enhancement
Oversee meet management for home competitions
Collaborate with coaching staff, athletic department, and VMI administration to support student-athlete academic progress and personal development
Perform administrative duties and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
Ensure compliance with VMI, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree as well as coaching experience.
Must posses a valid drivers license
Demonstrated success in training, mentoring, and developing student-athletes
Proven track record in recruiting and retaining quality student-athletes
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach to working with staff and administrators

Additional Considerations

USATF Level II Endurance Certification or USTFCCCA Endurance Specialist Certification
6 years experience in coaching and recruiting at the college or university level desired.
Master’s degree preferred
