Job Duties
Reporting to Director of Housing & Residence Life, the Associate Director for Administrative Services & Conference Housing oversees the day-to-day administrative functions of the department, including but limited to budget & financial management, purchases, contracts, inventory/compliance reporting, conference services, and assists with planning and procurement of items for renovations/maintenance needs to ensure effective and efficient departmental operations. The Associate Director provides effective, efficient and organized communication to all students, parents, staff, and the University community; manages conference/group housing needs, implements and maintains effective customer service initiatives and adheres to best practices department wide. This position is considered “essential staff” during inclement weather and other emergency situations. When required, the staff member will be available, visible, and accessible on-campus or an off-campus designated area to assist with providing services as needed and as directed by the Director of Housing & Residence Life.
The Associate Director for Administrative Services and Conference Housing will seek advice and guidance from the supervisor for issues that have the potential to negatively impact the division or the University or have the potential to escalate to the Vice President for Student Affairs’ level or above.
Examples-Seeking supervisory advice and guidance prior to decision-making: Employee termination recommendations; response to communication regarding complaints from the Office of the Vice President, President’s Office, or University Attorney’s Office; issues that involve a directive provided by my supervisor that warrants the supervisor’s input; issues brought to my attention that may result in negative publicity, negatively impact the community’s perception of NSU, and issues that may cause major financial ramifications. Additionally, reports of student death, suicide, sexual assault or arrest will be made to the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Attentiveness to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional interpersonal/human relations skills, excellent organizational/planning skills. Must be able to prioritize workload and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be able to work a flexible schedule and possess excellent personal computer skills. Must be able to function well under intense pressure.
Additional Considerations
Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, with related business/accounting coursework or at least two years’ experience in managing multiple budgets of approximately $14M.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required and two years’ of solid budget management experience of approximately $14M is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of two years’ accounting and/or budgeting experience with multiple budgets totaling at least $14M/year within a college student housing environment is strongly preferred.
