Job Duties
The Science Museum of Virginia is looking for a Technology Specialist who can bring both a collaborative, solution-focused mindset as well as an exceptional service delivery to keep colleagues' workflows running seamlessly. We need someone who's not just willing, but eager to move from desk to desk sharing technical wins. The Science Museum connects Virginians to STEM in unexpected ways. To do that, we need engaging (and often technologically advanced) exhibits and infrastructure. Our staff also need computers, AV equipment and secure systems that work.
The Technology Specialist will provide innovative museum solutions, as well as comprehensive technical and IT services for the Science Museum and its satellite locations. This person must be adaptable and keen to learn new systems to keep the Science Museum's cutting-edge technology operating flawlessly.

Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hardware and software installation, maintenance, testing, repair, and replacement. Demonstrated experience providing technical assistance both in person and through a ticketing system. The role also requires experience in supporting and managing audio and PA systems, as well as DMX and LED lighting systems. A solid understanding of cabling design and network topologies is necessary, along with intermediate-level administration skills in Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems. Demonstrated ability to maintain thorough and accurate documentation. Familiarity with digital signage and content management systems is required, along with experience in vendor performance management, including proposal evaluation and fulfillment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also critical to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
Additional Considerations
Experience working in a museum is a plus. Industry certifications such as A+ and/or Network+ are highly desirable. Experience providing technical support to remote locations, and familiarity with WordPress is plus.
