Job Duties

The Deputy Clerk (Grade 8) is assigned operational responsibilities in a high volume, fast paced office with frequent deadlines. The deputy ensures court’s instructions are executed and legal documents prepared with accuracy and in accordance with state and local policies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities – Duties include, but not limited to, preparing detailed court documents in accordance with established guidelines, data entry into an automated case management system, imaging case files, scheduling matters for court, preparing correspondence and legal documents, daily docket preparation, assessing fines and costs, receipting payments, answering phones, customer service at the front counter, filing court documents, and attending court sessions. The selected applicant must possess the ability to professionally interact with diverse customers and provide excellent customer service. Must be able to multitask and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Most competitive applicants will be detail-oriented, highly accurate, excellent at follow-up and managing competing priorities in a fast-paced office, able to work well with others in an office environment with frequent deadlines and have considerable court, business or office related experience. Applicants should be highly organized and possess significant knowledge, skills and abilities in time and performance management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and advance knowledge of office automation systems and computer software required. This is a team-oriented effort; therefore, applicant must be willing to perform their assigned duties and those of others if necessary. Discretion and integrity while working with highly sensitive and confidential matters is crucial.

Additional Considerations

Court or legal experience and experience handling money preferred.
