About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Vehicle Detail Technician in our communications Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will clean Department-owned vehicles throughout State Police Headquarters (SPHQ) according to Department standards; perform detail inspections by thoroughly washing, buffing, and waxing exteriors and vacuuming, steaming, and deodorizing interiors; maintain supply inventory and complete inspection and equipment malfunction reports to ensure operational safety and compliance; and maintain the work area to prevent unsafe or hazardous conditions and ensure safety.

Minimum Qualifications

•Knowledge of vehicle cleaning methods; in the use of cleaning chemicals, equipment and supplies; and of vehicle detailing safety practices.
•Skill in operating washing equipment and in the use of power equipment, power buffers, pressure washers, and other related equipment.
•Ability to clean vehicles inside and out; to operate passenger vehicles and trucks with automatic and manual transmissions; to bend, kneel, and balance to inspect vehicles; to perform labor intensive work; to work under adverse temperatures and/or weather conditions; to work independently and part of a team; to follow oral and written instructions; and to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English and with all individuals contacted internally and externally during the course of work.
•Virginia Operator's License required.
•Must have a clean driving record with no DUIs, accidents, or citations in the past three years.
•High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Additional Considerations

• Experience detailing vehicles preferred.
