Manages the vehicle conversion business at the Dillwyn Metal Plant, including working with customers to develop solutions, quote pricing, and provide excellent customer service. Provides supervision and training to inmate workers in the production of vehicle security enhancement development and installation, quality standards, inventory, and warehousing. Achieves through inmate workers VCE’s goals of producing, and installing quality products, accurate and complete orders on time, and assist in developing inmate workers’ hard and soft skills to prepare them for successful reentry. Is responsible for the leadership of the Metal Plant in the absence of the Dillwyn Plant Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems and wiring. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. Familiarity with measuring tools (e.g., calipers, tape measures, voltmeters, and multimeters). Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities. Good communication skills for customer interaction and reporting. Considerable knowledge of vehicle security enhancements development and installation. Working knowledge of metal furniture, and office systems. Knowledge of safe work practices in environments with chemical, equipment or other environmental risks. Demonstrated skill in effective planning and organizing, record-keeping, problem-solving, quality management; and developing, directing, correcting, and motivating others. Ability to make technical recommendations, develop job specifications, and quality standards. Ability to effectively communicate with others to achieve production goals. Ability to effectively supervise a diverse team in the production and installation of quality manufactured goods under the pressure of tight deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. High School Diploma or GED. Work experience in a high volume metal fabrication environment Experience in quality programs and production floor quality improvement initiatives.
Additional Considerations
Certification in vehicle electronics or installation systems. Previous experience in vehicle installation, electronics, and electrical work. Proficiency with MRP/ERP system or other manufacturing specialty applications. Certification in Total Quality Management, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other quality program certification. Previous supervisory experience.
