Job Duties:

Join our team and help shape the future of secure government data exchange! The Virginia Department of General Services (DGS) is seeking a skilled IT professional to support the Division of Purchases and Supply. This position focuses on the secure exchange of electronic data with agencies and local governments. You’ll work on the design, development, and support of integration tools, including the administration of a data message broker and the creation of new applications and modules.

As a valued member of our team, you’ll provide technical expertise for data mapping, integration services, testing, and interface support. Key duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor project schedules and coordinate with stakeholders to define requirements and timeliness
  • Provide technical guidance and support for Microsoft BizTalk projects
  • Develop recommendations and plans for existing and upcoming eVA integration interfaces
  • Test new interfaces and ensure timely implementation of upgrades and fixes
  • Respond to customer requests and provide guidance for eVA interface and integration
  • Develop and maintain documentation for operational support
  • Participate in team meetings and assist with administrative tasks

This position will be located in Richmond, Virginia and must report on-site. This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule (telework up to 2 days/week) upon completion of an approved telework agreement


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge in Oracle tools for parsing, loading, and extracting data from core systems
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and test electronic data exchanges
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft BizTalk 2020 or Azure Integration Services
  • Demonstrated experience with data mapping and orchestration
  • Demonstrated experience developing files for I/O communication in JSON, XML, CSV
  • Demonstrated experience with Visual Studio .Net development using C# and JavaScript
  • Familiarity with SSL, client authentication, digital certificates, and encryption protocols
  • Demonstrated experience with developing interfaces and using communication protocols for data exchange

Additional Considerations:

  • Knowledge of web services and secure data transfers
  • Familiarity with file encryption techniques and eProcurement systems (eVA preferred)
  • Experience with API development and supporting integrations
