Job Duties
Virginia Military Institute is searching for an enthusiastic and motivated entry-level Communications and Marketing Coordinator to join our dynamic team. This position provides opportunities for professional growth and career advancement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide general logistics and coordination assistance within the department, including maintenance of department calendar, phone and email support. (20%)
• Manage departmental fiscal documentation and coordination, including overall budget, time sheets, expenditures, purchases including subscriptions, and travel. (25%)
• Serve as the point of contact for internal and external communications, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries, including production of the Weekly Bulletin for employees. (15%)
• Coordinate events and provide occasional onsite event support, collaborating with departments across the Institute and utilizing the 25Live scheduling system. (15%)
• Support teams within the department and the Institute through the creation of narrative text, graphic elements, and monthly reports for news, marketing, and digital communications as needed/requested. (20%)
• Other responsibilities defined by the Director of Communications and Marketing (5%)
Minimum Qualifications
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges
Additional Considerations
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field; Preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic graphic design software
• Experience using a style guide or brand guidelines in content creation and editing
• Previous experience in a higher education environment, with special consideration given to experience within the Virginia public college system.
