Piedmont Geriatric Hospital (PGH), operated by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS), is a 123-bed psychiatric facility dedicated exclusively to serving individuals aged 65 and older.

This position provides advanced technical support for over 850 users, including troubleshooting server, software, and network issues, installing and maintaining hardware and software, and resolving VOIP and phone issues. The technician works closely with vendors to coordinate repairs, manages service tickets in the absence of the IT Director, and ensures timely resolution of work orders based on established priority levels. Responsibilities also include participating in strategic planning, data analysis, and policy development, with potential for supervising IT support staff. Strong customer service, collaboration, and communication skills are essential. The role requires adherence to performance standards, maintenance protocols, and timely completion of mandated training.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
• Proven capability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and effectively prioritize assignments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Advanced knowledge of Information Technology, including Windows operating systems and Windows Server environments.
• Extensive expertise in networking concepts, including network infrastructure, topology mapping, and configuration.
• Proficient in fiber optic technology and connectivity solutions.
• In-depth understanding of computer hardware, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of TCP/IP networking, system administration, cybersecurity, telecommunications, and LAN design.
• Advanced experience in server administration, configuration, and maintenance.
• Ability and willingness to learn new systems and technologies, and to apply that knowledge to enhance current and future IT operations.

Additional Considerations

Preferred:
• Experience in networking and fiber optics
• Experience of computer hardware and software
• Experience working in a medical or medical related setting, corrections or corrections related setting preferred
