The Judicial Compliance department is looking for an intellectually curious and diligent individual; a detail-oriented person who can analyze data and effectively communicate findings in writing.
Daily the judicial compliance tech will research case files, draft legal correspondences and set compliance matters to a hearing. The end goal of this role is to support the overall efficiency of the department.
Job Duties
The Judicial Division of the Commission is made up of the Commissioners, the Chief Deputy Commissioner, the Deputy Commissioners, the Clerk's Office, all Regional Offices, the Alternative Dispute Resolution Department (ADR), and the Petition & Order - Judicial Compliance Department (P&O).
The Judicial Division provides information about the Act, mediates or adjudicates disputed claims, conducts hearings, and issues timely written opinions adjudicating disputes and appeals. The Division’s primary objective is to hear and decide disputed claims and issues arising under the Act in a prompt, fair and impartial manner, affording due process to all litigants.
Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission, an independent state agency, currently seeks two innovative and motivated Judicial Compliance Technicians to serve in the Judicial Compliance - Show Cause Department. In this position, you will process Judicial Compliance tasks relating to the employer's obligation to ensure its liability for Workers' Compensation, as well as tasks relating to the evidence of compliance. You will research various databases to determine employer status, schedule and prepare matters for hearing. You will also draft, revise, and proofread documents and respond to customer inquiries related to Workers’ Compensation Insurance Compliance by phone, email, and in person. Must pass a criminal background check.
VWC Compensation Structure:
Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission is an independent agency which allows us to have a more competitive and unique pay structure. This position is a pay grade 4 based on a 14 grade pay structure. Our positions are not classified under DHRM's pay bands.
Telework Structure:
Our agency is currently using a hybrid model for teleworking. Our positions at this time are not 100% teleworking. All candidates would be expected to report to our Headquarters/Regional Office as requested. Telework scheduling is at the discretion of the Manager based on the business needs of the department. Upon hire, candidates should expect to have all training and orientation conducted at the Headquarters Office.

Minimum Qualifications
- Experience handling a large volume of phone calls and interacting with a diverse group of professionals and customers by verbal and written communication required
- Experience providing administrative, clerical, or office support in a related high volume, production-oriented environment
- Experience drafting, revising and proofreading documents
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to organize, coordinate, and prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to positively and professionally respond to customer complaints and inquiries
- Ability to think critically and exercise good judgment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to learn and adapt to new practices, procedures, and operations
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel; data entry and retrieval from database programs; and Internet research principles
Additional Considerations
- Experience providing judicial support and/or general knowledge of the judicial process
- Working knowledge of the Virginia Workers' Compensation Act and related procedures and practices
