Job Duties

Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Therapist I - Rec Therapist to plan and provide therapeutic recreation interventions and supervise provision of services/programs by subordinate staff. The Rec Therapist will ensure expectations are clear, well communicated, and relate to the goals and objectives of the department or unit; performance issues are addressed and documented as they occur; and the requirements of the performance planning and evaluation system are met and evaluations are completed by established deadlines with proper documentation.

This position will also engage in 18-20 hours of active treatment in PSR programs each week as evidenced by approved schedule; ensure programs are appropriate to age, needs, and interests as reflected on assessment data; HOPS documentation due daily on clients progress; conduct at least one patient satisfaction survey quarterly; develop one new intervention; coordinate budget for assigned unit/community recreation program; attend 6 hours of in-services training and 75% of Dept. meetings; and schedule and provide employee orientation on use of fitness room/equipment per hospital policy.

Minimum Qualifications

- Graduation from college with a degree or emphasis in therapeutic recreation
- Certification as CTRS or CTRS eligible
