Job Duties
This Wage (Hourly) position provides licensing support for the Board of Nursing Certified Nurse Aide (C.N.A) applicants by reviewing and processing applications for initial approval, renewal, endorsement and reinstatement, ensuring compliance pursuant to C.N.A. Regulations and Federal Regulations that impact Certified Nurse Aides in Virginia. Maintains licensure records and application information for initial exam and endorsement applicants, as well as renewals and reinstatement applicants. Additionally, identifies and applies established regulations necessary to analyze processes for issuing a certificate, and ensure that all correspondence is properly prepared and disseminated. Completes request for name change, address change, license duplicates and verifications. Respond to general inquires by telephone and email and disseminates incoming calls accordingly.
Minimum Qualifications
•Considerable knowledge of office procedures and practices, including paper and digital file maintenance.
•Working knowledge of licensing principles and practices within a regulatory office environment.
•Must possess or be able to quickly develop a comprehensive knowledge of state laws, regulations and policies pertaining to nursing licensing.
•Ability to apply this information in response to customer contacts, via phone or written correspondence.
•Ability to problem solve, work independently and research relevant documentation to ensure quality service.
•Strong ability to effectively and tactfully communicate orally and in writing.
•Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
•Ability to work with and maintain both digital and hard copy records.
•Demonstrated ability to enter data, analyze data, prepare spreadsheets and make recommendations for improvement based on reports.
•Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated ability to work in a business office environment managing both paper and electronic files.
Additional Considerations
Experience in a regulatory environment preferred.
Knowledge of various office systems, including licensing data base systems and working with the public in a fast-paced environment is preferred.

This is a wage (hourly) position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours during the 12 month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period.
