The VBPD is seeking an experienced Director of Administration to lead the agency's  administrative, fiscal, human resources, logistical, and operational functions. This position serves as the agency's senior administrative official, providing high level support to the Executive Director, Board members, and program staff.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as the primary point of responsibility for:
    • Administrative policies, procedures, and internal controls
    • Budget and fiscal processes
    • Procurement, contracts, and inventory management
    • Board meeting logistics and operational planning including accessible facilities, accommodations, and travel arrangements
    • Personnel management and human resources coordination
    • Telecommunication and overall continuity of operations for the agency.

 

  • Produces executive level correspondence and reports for review and dissemination at all levels within state government and the private sector. 
  • Serves as the Emergency Services Coordinator and Security and COOP Officer for the agency. Oversees the operation of the agency when directed by the Executive Director. 
  • Provides recommendations to the Director regarding the current state of all facets of the agency's internal operations as well as its collaborative efforts with other state agencies. 
  • Serves as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and respect fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-focused work culture.


Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Completes duties and/or projects as needed or directed by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Experience in public administration include budgeting and fiscal management. 
  • Considerable knowledge of generally accepted administrative management, personnel and accounting principles and practices, operation of state government, and computer applications /administration. 
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles and policies of the COV administration, with emphasis on budget development, accounts payable, DOA guidelines for prompt pay, DHRM personnel policies, and board administration. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of public administrative management practices and the implementation of internal controls. 
  • Knowledgeable of standard operating procedures demonstrated ability to research and prepare executive level correspondence.

• Demonstrated personal computer skills and mathematical abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise effectively, excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and direct administrative functions.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement policies and to work effectively with federal and state officials.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to make sound recommendations and decisions.

 

Additional Considerations

  • Knowledge of and experience in the Commonwealth accounting and personnel system.
  • Virginia Contracting Associate certification.
