About the Position:
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Sex offender Unit Compliance Officer (SOIU) in Region 3 covering Buckingham, Cumberland, Fluvanna, Goochland, Louisa and Powhatan. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:

• Conducting required verification checks to determine truth in address reporting for home and work.
• Completing and filing required reports.
• Promoting good public relations.
• Participating in liaison activities with other cooperating agencies.
• Performing other tasks assigned by supervision to meet organizational requirements resulting in a functional unit.

Minimum Qualifications

Willingness to learn and demonstrate understanding of the registration requirements of convicted sex offenders in Virginia. Knowledge of judicial proceedings, case management, and the parole process. Skill in operating a computer to include Microsoft software applications. Demonstrated skill to operate a motor vehicle. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to maintain harmonious working relationship with supervisors and the public. Ability to make decisions independently by applying policies, rules and regulations. Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and pay close attention to details. Ability to identify community resources.
