Job Duties:
Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Campus Life Associate - Dorm. The purpose of this position is to engage with clients and other rehabilitation team members to create a safe, clean, and supportive residential/recreational experience throughout the entire Campus Life Division environment.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Promotes and maintains a safe, secure and therapeutic environment in which to live and learn.
- Foster the interdisciplinary team approach across the campus life division and the entire WWRC campus.
- Provides appropriate documentation according to the center/departmental standards.
Perform other program duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
• Valid VA Driver’s License required.
Knowledge/Skills -
- Knowledge of theory and techniques utilized in behavior modification, crisis intervention and problem solving; of confidentiality and boundary issues.
- Knowledge of safety awareness in a residential/dormitory setting; of the recreation hall environment for coverage as needed.
Skills/Abilities-
- Skills in assessing individual and group needs and ability to plan and implement programs to meet those needs.
- Good oral and written communication, computer and organization/time management skills.
- The ability to relate positively to people with disabilities and knowledge of disabilities served; to foster a safe, clean and supportive environment promoting positive social, interpersonal and self-management skills encouraging opportunities to learn needed skills to promote and enhance personal independence.
- The ability to assess environmental factors and safety hazards while conducting day-to-day operations; and to foster the interdisciplinary team approach.
Additional Considerations:
- Training or experience in health and human service-related fields working with people with disabilities, particularly in a therapeutic residential and/or recreational setting.
- Recreational training or experience and/or certification(s) such as:
- Fitness Instruction Certification
- Lifeguarding
- Coaching (team or individual)
Special Instructions:
- This has been designated a sensitive position under Va. Code § 2.2-1201.1.
- A fingerprint-based criminal history check will be required of the finalist candidate.
