Job Duties

Virginia Energy is seeking a Grid Reliability Resilience Grant Program Coordinator to administer federal and state-funded resilience programs, including the U.S. Department of Energy’s Section 40101(d) Grid Resilience Grant and related initiatives that strengthen the Commonwealth’s electric grid against extreme weather, natural disasters, and other disruptive events. The Grid Reliability Resilience Grant Program Coordinator will work closely with program managers, utilities, local governments, and community partners to help design and implement projects that improve grid reliability, promote equitable access to resilient energy systems, comply with state and federal requirements, and ensure grant funds are deployed effectively to strengthen the state’s transmission and distribution systems, mitigate risks from disruptive events, and align with long-term state energy planning objectives.

Responsibilities include:
• Manage all phases of program administration ranging from application development and review, negotiation and award, compliance monitoring, invoicing, performance tracking, reporting, and stakeholder engagement
• Play a critical role in integrating program outcomes, data, and lessons learned into the State Energy Plan, ensuring that investments in grid reliability and resilience inform broader energy policy and planning efforts
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, support agencies, and corresponding utilities
• Promote energy conservation, and energy efficiency in the public sector of the Commonwealth and help develop and implement the recommendations of the Virginia Energy Plan

This restricted position is contingent upon continued receipt of federal funds. The current expectation is that funds are available until April 30, 2032.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience to qualify for this position:
• Proven ability to manage multi-year, multi-stakeholder programs complex requirements.
• Strong organizational skills to coordinate program design, contracting, tracking, and reporting.
• Solid understanding of grid resilience and technologies to enhance grid flexibility and reliability
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing workload
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to analyze and communicate information clearly and concisely
• Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with federal, state, local and tribal government officials and representatives of private sector consultants, vendors, and contractors
• Experience in regulatory issues, government procurement practices, financing programs, and contract administration in a progressively complex organization
• Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and drive to achieve outcomes
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
• Strong working knowledge of computer business and communications application software (Microsoft Office Suite)
• Possession of a valid driver’s license with a good driving record

Additional Considerations

• Experience working with deployment of federal funded grant programs preferred
• Experience in regulatory issues, government procurement practices, financing programs, and contract administration in a progressively complex organization is preferred
• Experience with business intelligence tools such as Power BI is a plus
