Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) protects the public by preparing court-involved youth to be successful citizens. DJJ is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth, strengthening both families and communities within the Commonwealth.
DJJ is currently seeking an Executive Assistant. This role will provide efficient and accurate administrative, programmatic, and operational support for the functions of the Re-Entry and Interventions Unit.
Roels/Responsibilities for this position include, but not limited to:
- Working knowledge of state procurement processes,
- Extensive proficiency in Word, Excel, and various other software applications,
- Proficient in writing clearly and effectively,
- May supervise other administrative staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- Considerable working knowledge of generally accepted office practices, procedures, and currently used office equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage office activities and administrative work; to interpret and apply policy and procedure and a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate.
- Knowledge of Business English for report development, letter writing and business correspondence.
- Skill in the use of personal computers, databases, and word processing software.
- Ability to lead special projects, work independently of others, work well under pressure, dependable, and shows initiative.
Additional Considerations
- Experience with the state's accounting and procurement systems and knowledge of eVA.
- Substantial experience providing administrative and clerical support to managerial staff.
