Job Duties

The Office of Licensure and Certification (OLC) in Richmond, Virginia is seeking full-time Medical Facilities Inspectors for the Blueridge Region’s Long-Term Care Team. This position currently offers a sign-on bonus of $5,000 and 80 hours of front-loaded annual leave time with a one-year written agreement for external candidates. This position will require travel and overnight travel.

Position duties include:

Assignment & Schedules
• Completes on-site inspection/surveys and complaint investigations assigned within the designated schedule. Occasionally works in alternate roles of team leader and/or team member; may be assigned on inspections
Survey Reports
•Interprets and applies regulations to inspection/survey findings, conducts exit conference with facility and completes deficiency statements and related survey documents within established timeframes

Plans of Corrections & Packages
• Monitors and reviews plans of correction; completes final inspection/survey packages and provides expert testimony in informal fact-finding conferences and federal formal hearings, and scheduled court cases
• Turns in completed packages to supervisor within the appropriate timeframe

Proficiency & Competency
• Maintains proficiency and competency in all inspection/survey protocols and processes and provides effective return training and preceptorship, when required

Teamwork & Communication
• Develops and maintains effective working relationships • Complies with computer training and updates
• Utilizes computer skills effectively to enhance transmittal and receipt of reports, schedules and communications

May be required to perform other duties; may include functions of an emergency declaration

If working in LTC and/or Complaint unit, must obtain SMQT Certification within 12 months of hire date. All MFIs must obtain medical clearance for fit testing in accordance with OSHA

Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR 1910.134) [Ref.2] regulations within 90 days of hire date and annually with exception to Complaint Unit.

Minimum Qualifications

• Specialized knowledge of health care systems and services, quality of care issues & health care administration
• Experience communicating orally and in writing in a clear, concise, and legally defensible manner; Experience managing multiple assignments independently.
• Experience assessing individual patient/resident medical care plans and outcomes, the overall quality of facility care and services, and to interpret and apply complex state/federal regulations to the findings

Additional Considerations

• Experience working with state regulations.
• Registered Nurse License (RN)
