This position is Monday - Friday for the 6:00 am to 2:30 pm Shift - No Weekends

Central State Hospital (CSH) is a 277-bed Joint Commission accredited psychiatric inpatient facility located in Petersburg, Virginia. Established in 1870, CSH holds the distinction of being the first psychiatric hospital in the nation dedicated to the treatment of African Americans. Job Duties:

- Drive and use large trucks to gather dirty laundry around campus property at various building
locations.
- Deliver dirty laundry to assigned area(s).
- Deliver clean laundry to assigned area(s).
- Drive other vehicles as required.
- Trucks and equipment to be kept clean and good working order.
- Laundry wheeled transport bins to be cleaned daily.
- Gathering, receiving, and/ or the movement of dirty laundry from its source, to the weighing and
logging of it, and to the loading of it into the washer machines.
- Works in Flatwork Ironer Section and Unloads washers.
- Works in Wash Room:
- Daily operates flatwork ironer, which includes shaking out and separating linen.
- Feed linen through flatwork ironer, stack sheets, pillowcases, bedspreads, etc. onto carts and
delivered to shipping section for filling linen orders, and stocking items on shelves.
- Daily unloads washers on clean linen side.
- Work in wash room on rotating schedule.
- Dries and Fluffs laundry using Steam Tumblers.
- Presses and Operates Multi-Fold Machine:
- Daily operates steam dryer to ensure that all laundry presented is properly dried and fluffed.
- Daily operates steam presses and multi-fold machine to ensure that all laundry presented is
properly pressed and folded for distribution.
- Sorts Clothing and Linen Items, Receives, Stocks, and Dispenses Clean Linen:
- Daily sorts clothing and linen so that they can be delivered.
- Stage and ready for distribution to fulfill requests. Performs EVS Housekeeping Duties. Performs
other Duties as Required:
- Cleans and maintains a safe and orderly working environment as to dust, cleanliness, and
disinfection standards.
- Perform other linen and/ or housekeeping duties as required by supervisor based on staffing
levels and area needs of building(s).

Minimum Qualifications

-Valid Virginia Drivers License
-Experience driving large trucks

Additional Considerations

- Some experience in lifting small dumpsters, using lift gates, and backing up to loading docks.
- Some experience in commercial and/or institutional laundering for linen and clothing preferred.
- Some experience in performing cleaning tasks in a systematic manner preferred.
