Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Veteran Services is seeking an experienced transaction specialist to assist the Human Resources Department. The Human Resource (HR) Transactions Specialist is responsible for ensuring responsive and accurate data processing for a broad range of human resource transactions in the Cardinal HCM system. Specific transactional activities will include but are not limited to processing new hires, employee promotions, separations, employee leave of absence, classification and position changes, and pay action requests. Research errors and coordinates with other agency department staff to resolve discrepancies. Serves as the technical expert on all data entry transactions, ensures data integrity, and policy and procedural. This role is part-time with a weekly schedule of 29 hours. 

Minimum Qualifications

Working knowledge and demonstrated experience processing and tracking human resource transactions, to include complex payroll, benefits, employee, and workers compensation data; demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret and apply human resource policies to research and resolve transaction activities; strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task to meet deadlines is essential; working knowledge of human resource programs, regulations and guidelines and the ability to relay accurate information to employees; knowledge of federal and state laws, policies and procedures; considerable skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Additional Considerations

Working knowledge of HRIS to include PeopleSoft, the Commonwealth of VA Cardinal HCM, VNAV and VRS; working knowledge of DHRM Human Resource policies and procedures; college coursework in human resource management, business, public administration, or related field, OR an equivalent combination of experience, training and experience.
