Job Duties
The Virginia Office of the Attorney General (OAG) ) is now accepting applications to its 2026 Honors Program. Our prestigious Honors Fellow program offers an unparalleled opportunity for third-year law students and recent graduates to make a real difference in the Commonwealth. As an Honors Fellow, you'll begin your career immediately after taking the Virginia State Bar exam, contributing to significant legal matters that affect our state. Upon passing the bar, you'll be automatically promoted to Assistant Attorney General with a salary increase, providing a clear path to advancement in your legal career.
We're seeking passionate advocates for justice with sharp legal minds and strong academic records. The ideal candidate is a team player eager to serve the public interest, committed to ethics and integrity. You should have a J.D. from an accredited law school (or be expecting to graduate this year), be eligible to take the Virginia State Bar exam, and possess strong research, writing, and analytical skills.

Minimum Qualifications
To be eligible for the Honors Fellowship, applicants must:
- Be graduating or a recent graduate from an accredited law school.
- Intend to sit for the July 2026 Virginia Bar Exam.
- Demonstrate outstanding academic achievement.
- Have strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Have the ability to work with people across different social identities and backgrounds.
- Successfully complete a criminal background check.
Additional Considerations
Successful applicants are initially hired as Honors Fellows, earning a competitive salary of $65,000. Upon admission to the Virginia State Bar, Honors Fellows are promoted to the level of Assistant Attorney General, with a corresponding increase in salary.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
