This is an hourly/wage position and does not include the Commonwealth of Virginia’s state benefits package. This position is limited to no more than 1500 hours in a 12-month period and averages no more than 29 hours a week.
About the Position:
The Assistant Statistical Analyst serves as a back-up to the Statistical Analysts and ensures that audits of Local Department of Social Services (LDSS) cases in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid (MC) Program, and other designated benefit programs are entered and transmitted accurately and timely according to federal mandates and state guidelines. The analyst’s responsibilities are essential in preventing the imposition of federal fiscal sanctions the citation of state audit exceptions by capturing, transmitting, and reporting federally mandated audit results. The information provides a systematic method of measuring Virginia’s active and negative case action error and payment rate performance in the SNAP and MC. This is accomplished by generating, transmitting, and publishing error rate data reflected in a variety of reports, charts, and graphs and is used to determine Virginia's official SNAP Payment Error Rate. Provides direct support to the QC Associate Director, Statistical Analyst, and all QC staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Must have demonstrated:
• Advanced experience with and demonstrated knowledge of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Medicaid policies and procedures and working knowledge of Quality Control Programs.
• Relevant knowledge of and or experience in social sciences or related fields; an equivalent amount of related work experience.
• A high degree of computer skills including automated and electronic copying and scanning devices and a valid driver’s license are essential.
• Must possess a high degree of analyzing data and creating report skills.
• Considerable knowledge of software and database apps including WORD, Power Point, VaCMS, SPIDeR, MMIS, ADOBE/PRO and extensive experience with electronic files and formatting of the same. Advanced Access, Excel, Crystal, Adobe, and DMIS systems.
• Experience with analytical skills in a multi-deadline environment.
• High level of interpersonal skills to elicit understanding.
• Collaborating with unit to complete assignments.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Successfully adapt to change in operations and priorities.
