About the Agency:

The Mission of the Virginia National Guard Commonwealth ChalleNGe Youth Academy is to intervene in the lives of 16-18 year old teenagers by providing the values, skills, education, and self-discipline needed to produce responsible, productive citizens, and to do so in a highly structured learning environment.

The Lead Recruiter Will:

Serve as the lead supervisor of admissions, recruiting, and is charged with overseeing and executing a recruiting strategy that ensures that eligible candidates receive information and apply for enrollment into the program in sufficient numbers to maximize bed capacity and sustain the funded target graduation. Serve as lead of the Post-Residential department overseeing placement and the mentor pilot program. The Post-Residential department tracks the career progression for cadets for 24 months post graduation.

This position is limited to one (1) day of telework per week in accordance with DHRM policy.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be available to work weekends, travel overnight, and drive throughout the state of Virginia to recruit applicants;

Ability to input and manage a cloud-based platform/database;

Experience in coordinating events;

Ability to build and maintain relationships;

Interpersonal skills are a must;

Ability to write clearly with attention to detail, including skills for designing and producing written communications using proper sentence structure, in the form of letters, applications, brochures and advertisements;

Ability to apply excellent customer service and telephone etiquette related to program marketing and recruitment;

Demonstrated ability to adapt, change and be flexible;

Demonstrated time management skills;

Demonstrated multitasking and teamwork skills;

Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office products;

Knowledgeable in creating virtual meetings using Teams or Zoom platforms;

Experience in admissions processing, recruitment and skill placement is required;

Demonstrated experience with preparing and delivering presentations to large, diverse audiences;

Current Virginia Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record is required.

Additional Considerations

Marketing background is preferred.

Must obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with airbrake and passenger endorsement within eleven (11) months of hire, and must maintain a valid CDL for the duration of employment thereafter.

Position requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Regulatory standards, including, but not limited the use of a respirator.

Must have, and maintain, a valid Virginia Driver’s License for the duration of employment.
