Job Duties:
Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center (WWRC) Occupational Therapy services is seeking a physical therapist to provide direct client care and provide comprehensive and specialized evaluations, treatments, and consultation for adults (aged 18 and older) with neurologic and orthopedic disabilities as part of an interdisciplinary team to achieve goals toward developing, improving, or restoring independent living and vocational potential. All clinical services will be in accordance with the center’s compliance program, professional regulations and ethics, and established standards of care. Reviews client referral information (or consultants with Div. Mgr.) to assess the level of PT service indicated. The individual demonstrates a thorough understanding of and adherence to PT practice standards, ethical codes, organizational values, and policies/procedures; demonstrates advanced competence in providing and documenting client assessments; and delivers direct client care in compliance with PT licensure guidelines. The individual documents client treatment, including the client's response to treatment, using PT template reports, AWARE ASEs, or AWARE service notes within the required timeframe and effectively communicates with a broad range of paraprofessionals, professional staff, and clients.
This is an "as needed" position, so hours are variable, not more than 8-10 hrs/week max when needed and can’t exceed 1500 hours during their employment year. This position does not include health insurance, retirement, or leave.
Knowledge/Experience:
• Academic and clinical knowledge gained during the professional education curriculum.
• Advanced knowledge of, and experience with, principles and practice of PT techniques.
• Demonstrated competency in areas of PT evaluation and treatment.
Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to administer physical therapy treatments, including patient transfers, therapeutic modalities, & mobility training
• Ability to work as a team member in an interdisciplinary rehabilitation setting.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Considerations:
• Licensed physical therapist or eligible for Virginia licensure
• Some Clinical experience as licensed physical therapist.
Special Instructions:
This has been designated a sensitive position under Va. Code § 2.2-1201.1.
