About the Agency:
The Virginia Department of Military Affairs State Team provides professional and responsive state support functions to the Adjutant General of Virginia, the Virginia National Guard, the Virginia Air Guard, and the Virginia Defense Force in order to ensure their ability to support and defend the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
About the Position:
As the primary manager of the Enlisted Promotion System (EPS), this role is responsible for the comprehensive oversight and execution of all functions related to enlisted promotions from grades E2 through E9. The position ensures strict adherence to current regulations and policies governing the EPS, proactively maintaining and updating guidance as necessary. All changes and updates are promptly disseminated to field units to ensure uniform compliance and operational continuity. Key responsibilities Policy Oversight & Dissemination; Promotion Management; Facilitate the promotion of all eligible Soldiers from E2 to E9.Review and validate promotion packets for 1SG and CSM candidates to ensure completeness and compliance; Coordinate with G1 SGM to support enlisted transfers and career progression; Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EPS regulations and policies; Communicate changes and updates effectively to field units; Ensure all promotion actions align with Army directives and standards. Maintain the Enlisted Promotion database with accuracy and timeliness. Update and manage spreadsheets tracking Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) vacancies across units. Monitor Soldiers attending Initial Active Duty Training (IADT) to ensure timely promotion eligibility and tracking. Provide responsive and informed customer service to field units regarding promotion inquiries and guidance. Serve as a subject matter expert on EPS procedures and requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience gathering data, generating reports, and presenting to leadership required;
Prior experience creating SOP's;
Must be detail-oriented and have organizational skills;
Customer service skills required;
Proficiency in both verbal and written communication is a prerequisite;
Ability to collaborate effectively;
Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Word, etc. required.
Additional Considerations
Working knowledge of Army National Guard Human Resources systems;
A comprehensive understanding of agency and state policies and procedures pertaining to the enlisted promotions branch.
